When you make changes to the sentences, the score automatically raises or lowers depending on how effective your selling words are.
Higher is better. Here's some scoring number examples from my own website. You'll see them in the extensive rewrites I've done below:
Yes, a minus. Disaster! Immediate rewrite needed. Poor result. Needs a major copywriting rewrite. Very good. Few copywriting changes needed. As high as I've seen on any of my websites. Top class.
Here's how it works:
I simply enter each sentence in the copywriting software program, and rework it using different words... until my changed copywriting gets the highest score.
In my copywriting rewrite that follows, you can see the low scoring sentence first, then the higher score rewrite. In some cases I rewrote a sentence 3 times - getting a better score each time.
I chose mainly headlines and subheads to alter. Since many readers skim-read, these have a larger impact on sales conversion.
It was an interesting exercise mainly because I found the copywriting improvement tool highlighted some of the tired copywriting and marketing cliches I had been using since finishing this website back in 1999. It forced me to relook at my copy to make changes, and the score went way up.
The sentence with a minus score (-39) is a good example of a huge improvement I made.

You can see how much of an improvement the copywriting improvement tool made to my own copywriting, can't you!
HINT: Grammatical changes can make the most improvement, but the program also factors in ellipses, capitals and question marks.
And you can't argue with a 325% conversion improvement either! Some copywriters claim a 300% to 1800% improvement in their score.
UPDATE: Software developer James Brausch has taken this tool off the market as from 5 January 2008. You can now only buy it from authorized resellers.
I won't be one of them. Despite sending many dozens of potential buyers to his link over the last 2 years, I haven't sold one solitary item - yet I believe it is one of the best copywriting tools available and I'll continue using it for myself. Why it hasn't sold through me, I don't know.
